What is Coinbase Wallet?
Coinbase Wallet is a cryptocurrency wallet and DApp browser controlled by you and only you. This means that the private keys (that represent ownership of the cryptocurrency) for your Wallet are stored directly on your mobile device and not with a centralized exchange like Coinbase.com. You do not need a Coinbase.com account to use Coinbase Wallet.
You can view supported cryptocurrencies in Coinbase Wallet by opening the Wallet app and tapping Receive. Currently Wallet supports: Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, XRP, Stellar Lumens, Dogecoin, and all ERC20 tokens (including USDC and DAI).
Please note that Coinbase Wallet is not the same product as Coinbase.com. If you’re looking to simply invest in crypto - Coinbase.com remains the easiest place to buy, sell and manage your cryptocurrency.
Now, enough about the general concepts - let's get to the actual Coinbase wallet review. TL;DR: The Coinbase wallet is known for being one of the safest digital currency wallets to store your cryptos in. It's easy-to-use, is designed quite well, and will protect your coins with multiple security features (i.e. 2-FA).
Pay via QR code
QR codes make it easy to pay from a bitcoin wallet app on your smartphone (including the Coinbase app for Android or iOS). Simply scan the QR code and it will pre-fill the recipient bitcoin address and the requested payment amount. Once you send the transaction, the payment is complete.
To withdraw your funds, sign in to your Coinbase Commerce account and click on the Withdraw button next to the relevant cryptocurrency in the Balances section. A window will pop up and ask how much you would like to withdraw, and where you would like these funds to go.
